Fictional Archaeology
In a 25' x 40' floor installation, packing units are positioned and pinned, at various levels and orientations, into cardboard shells of various sizes. The individual cardboard constructions are then grouped together to form a fictional archaeological field. Spatially complex, this work seeks to create a mute sense of solitude indicative of a contemplative landscape.
To accentuate the notion of archaeology, the work was shown in a darkened room with visitors given flashlights to reveal and excavate the work for themselves.
